What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural, hands-on approach to healthcare that focuses on the optimal functioning of the Nervous System - the body’s master system. The Nervous System consists of your brain and spinal cord (central nervous system) and the plethora of nerves that control every organ, muscle and cell of your body (peripheral nervous system).

The role of a Doctor of Chiropractic is to identify a subluxation – improper motion or position of the spinal vertebrae which can irritate the nerve and compromise the function of organs and tissues controlled by those nerves.

Subluxations can be caused by physical, chemical, or emotional stress.

Chiropractors apply an adjustment to the spine to correct the subluxation, therefore restoring the proper function to your spine and removing irritation from the nerve.  This results in an improvement of  the mind-body communication and allows the body to function at an optimal level.

In addition to keeping the spine healthy and the nervous system functioning optimally, research has shown that Chiropractic can be effective in addressing the causes of numerous conditions. Dr. Coscolluela has addressed the following conditions in her office:

•      Neck and Back Pain

•      Headaches

•      Torticollis

•      Postural Dysfunction

•      Sciatica

•      Muscle strains / Ligament sprains

•      Nerve-related conditions

•      injuries due to sports and exercise

•      Common aches and pains due to pregnancy
